With so much knowledge gained in so little time my brain feels heavy. I am reading through my RSS posts and find that I have gained 1000 entries by subscribing to group feeds. I am intrigued by the use of the web to capture so much information and can truly appreciate Rheingolds recommendations to "filter", while staying focused on the prize. I am in awe of the computer skills that my 3 children of varied generations possess. They never watch TV, they watch their laptops. They are fluent in google and computer searches. I know that it is imperative to begin restructuring the way we deliver knowledge to our children and their children of the future. It is a daunting task to say the least. I really want to be a pioneer of nurse educators. For those of us currently on the masters in nursing journey, we can all speak to the fact that we are currently taught through a lecture based curriculum. I can't begin to imagine what we are missing by not utilizing a personal learning network! What are others doing across the globe to innovate the delivery of graduate level nursing course content? I am sooooooo curious!

There is so much to learn about our world and the world of the internet. I am very happy that you convinced me to sign up for this class! My eyes have been open to the world I have been missing! Thank you....
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have had to accept...and keep reminding myself...is that it is absolutely truly impossible for me to find all of the good and relevant information available online. There are going to be tons of really good resources, blogs, etc. that would be perfect for my needs and interests that I will never find, or have the time to read, implement, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhich can be a little daunting at times.
But, I try to keep the perspective that I can tailor my own expertise. I don't HAVE to read the same things as you, or use the same apps or programs. I can find my own that are also cool and useful. And then we can leverage our experiences by working together!
Just keep swimming!
It sounds like you and the other nurses in this course have had an eye-opening experience so far. I think it is great to be out there on the cutting edge of nurse education. I am very intrigued to see the final projects you develop and how they contrast to the "traditional" methods you describe.
