Well, here it is Thursday night.. and I'm revisiting how to make the most of all this new web based technology.  I have concluded that we need more hands on class time.  Dave and Randy can you show us some of the neat tricks of making the most of blogging and twitter, inserting pics and graphics etc?  Its exciting for us middle agers :)

  1. My feeling about blogging and Twitter is that it is hard to get the ball rolling, but easier to keep the it rolling.

At this point, I try to check Twitter everyday to find at least one good resource. Honestly, it doesn't take very long for that to happen if you follow the right people. I also try to tweet or retweet something at least once per day as well. I mostly retweet at this point. I view myself as much more a consumer than a producer of content in that arena.

Blogging is the opposite of course. I am a 100% producer of content, with almost nobody consuming that content at this time. For me, that means my blog has to be FOR ME. My thoughts and feelings about my professional experiences. Eventually, if I do it long enough to build up enough content, I might be brave and tweet a link to one of my blog posts as a way to draw traffic to my sight. I already seen several other people do that on Twitter and they definitely get a response.

But that is not something I am worried about right now. Mainly I just try to write something every day. Get the ball rolling.

Maybe blog about some of your professional experiences in relation to 2.0 technology?

  2. Hi Marie,

I must say i agree 100% with your comments on how we are taught in our nursing courses. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to take part in the MEDU courses. I agree that we need to be pioneers for how nurses are being educated.

I am taking Dave's advice (his response to this blog). As of today I will retweet something that I find valuable. I think this is a great way to start sharing information. I believe that we have a great deal of knowledge as nurses that we can be sharing but I am not confident enough with the technology at this time to start putting a bunch of information out there.

I will use my blog to begin exposing myself to sharing information with others. I am still practicing with Twitter and all of the other tools that we have just learned. (Dave I think I accidently posted my blog on Twitter...oh well).

So much to learn and so little time!
